Here's another vegetarian restaurant with spiritual roots. Owners William and Norma Cano both became vegetarians when they joined the Universal Brotherhood, "a nondenominational movement committed to teaching that we all are of one spiritual origin." Their restaurant melds traditional Colombian fare with vegetarian sensibilities.
Voted #2 of the Top 10 Vegan and Vegetarian Restaurants in Los Angeles!
Highland Park may be the new Echo Park, not gentrified enough to force rents through the roof but just diverse enough to foster eclectic eateries like Cinnamon Vegetarian, which specializes in hard-to-find plates of vegan and vegetarian Mexican food. The restaurant is casual with mint green-walls and wooden tables. Bowls of fruit adorn the long front counter and the service is friendly and efficient.
Thought it was impossible to find vegetarian pozolé, carnitas, chorizo and shrimp? Think again.
So a few weeks ago, Wilson and I decided to venture out to a new vegan/vegetarian restaurant, which is always awesome since there aren’t a million vegan/veggie places. Don’t get me wrong, LA has a plethora of vegan and vegetarian restaurants, and it’s often times a shitload more than most places. But hey, we’ve been around the block a few times in regards to the restaurants in our vicinity. So again, needless to say, it was a cause for excitement. I took a lot of pictures this time, so got loads of food porno pics for ya’ll.
I'm not vegetarian but I love a great vegetarian meal. I was intrigued when I heard that a Mexican Vegetarian place was openning up in the Highland Park area. I finally dropped by to check it out.
